David ( Hoppy) Hopkinson first joined the Old Blackburnians Amateur Football Club in 1979 as a player and went on to to become Captain of the First XI and later Club Captain. He cared deeply for the Old Blacks and was a principal figure in the management of the club. He was popular both as a player and back in the club house talking football at the bar. His passing will be sadly felt by the many players and members of the club who will remember him as both a fine player and friend.
